Who We Are
The North Sask River Water Resource Committee Inc. is a federally incorporated non-profit organization whose purpose is to optimize the socio-economic opportunities arising from the water resource of the North Saskatchewan River.
In 2003 10 public meetings were hosted in communities throughout Northwest Saskatchewan by the City of North Battleford. The purpose was to gauge interest in investigating the feasibility of a dam on the North Saskatchewan River at Highgate, as studied by PFRA in 1972.
Considerable interest was generated from these meetings and a steering committee was established in July of 2003. After developing vision and mission statements for the organization and bylaws, the NSRWRC was incorporated later that same year and was structured as a member-based organization that would include municipalities, organizations, and individuals. The First AGM and elections of the Board of Directors was held in March of 2004.
Board members are required to vote according to support received from the municipalities/ organizations that they are representing. Board members are also required to regularly provide updates to their municipality and organization.
